I am a landscape architect based on the Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire border and I work on a variety of public and private projects across U.K, particularly the south and south-west. My gardens employ an elegant use of hard materials and craftmanship with uplifting and well-choreographed planting.

Equally confident whether working on a computer, at a drawing board or placing out plants in a flower bed, I can orchestrate a landscape project from initial consultation and concept design stage, through to CAD detailing, supervision of the tendering process, project management, scheduling, plant sourcing and placing, then aftercare and maintenance advice.

There are some testimonials about me and my work here.

Recent projects
I have recently created several gardens for The Newt in Somerset, a magnificent country estate with woodlands, public gardens, two exceptional hotels and spas and a garden museum. My projects there were both in the main public gardens and at several outlying estate properties.

I am currently working on several garden projects including the restoration of a large walled kitchen garden in North Devon which will open to the public. I am establishing an extensive meadow, formal cutting garden and woodland courtyard garden on a large country estate near Frome. I am also redesigning the garden and parkland of a Georgian mansion in Bruton. I am working with a local architect and housing developer to create some eco-housing and community woodland in a town centre. I have also carry out a number of more domestic projects ranging from farmsteads and barn conversions to contemporary urban courtyard gardens.

Previously, I have worked on a variety of projects, from working with the master plantsman, Piet Oudolf at Hauser & Wirth Somerset and other public and commercial outdoor spaces such as hotels, spa gardens, racecourses and show gardens.

I trained at the University of Greenwich and was awarded a first class degree honours in both my postgraduate diploma and masters. After graduating, I spent several years working in design studios before establishing myself as a freelance landscape architect in 2014. I have worked in this region for over 12 years and have an extensive network of trusted suppliers, plant nurseries, builders, groundworkers/landscapers, gardeners and craftsmen that I regularly work with.

Starting a garden project
When starting a project I take careful note of the client’s requirements as well as the atmosphere and conditions of the site to inform a thoughtful and nuanced design response.

To me, landscape architecture is without question, the best job there is — and it involves a bit of time travel! When designing a scheme you are always thinking about a project in three dimensions but also have to consider how a landscape will mature and develop over time.
